Online Poetry as a Tool for Wellness - Understanding, Self-Compassion
DETAILS
Experience how poetry can help you to develop a practice of mindfulness and creativity, serving as a tool for holistic wellness. Our poem, quotes, writing, and discussion will focus on Understanding, Self-Compassion, and Showing Empathy. When we can feel and speak to what animals and other people experience, we grow in compassion and empathy for them and also for ourselves. Poem-making, when approached as a therapeutic, healing and transformational process, rather than with literary analysis and judgment, provides an opportunity for increased self-awareness and growth. This process encourages listening, connection, healthy surprise and meaning. In a Poetic Medicine Circle, poems are read out loud with the group to inspire discussion, and writing prompts. After each writing exercise, you are invited to read your poems to one another. You rewrite internal dialogues and narratives, while also feeling seen, deeply listened to, and connected to community. No prior experience with poetry required. Sign up for this circle and join us for the monthly series, every 3rd Sunday. June: Understanding, Self-Compassion July: Making It Real with Healthy Choices August: Overcoming Obstacles, Generating Forgiveness September: Riding the Waves of Change: Creating Hope and Transformation October: Moment-to-Moment: Being in Gratitude November: Practicing Self-Care December: Celebration!
